Lautaro Martinez could possibly sign a new contract with Inter by the end of this month according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.
Inter remain in contact with the 23-year-old Argentine national team striker’s representatives, Beto Yaque and Mauro Zarate, regarding a contract renewal which will include a salary increase.
Inter are thinking about upping Lautaro’s salary to €5 million a year, plus add-ons. It is unclear what will happen with regard to the release clause but even if it stays as is, Inter would still make a monstrous capital gain, seeing as he has a value of around just €10 million on the club’s books.
The report goes on to add that the renewal could be done and dusted by the end of the month if not no later than the month of January.
The report from the Turin based news outlet also goes on to report that a contract renewal would not rule out a departure from the club perhaps as early as next Summer.
In addition to long term admirers Barcelona, Real Madrid also have an interest in signing the former Racing Club forward. Given the losses Inter have made due to COVID, selling him could help save the club accounts.
