Noted Italian football journalist Luigi Garlando has hit out at Inter manager Antonio Conte after his recent criticisms of the media and how members of the media claim that Inter are a team lacking fury and that he is different compared to last year.

Following on from Sunday’s 1-1 draw away to Atalanta in Serie A, former Juventus and Italian national team boss Conte urged those who think the team lack fury and think he is different to put down the alcohol and Garlando has hit back at the 51-year-old coach.

“Antonio Conte’s words? I tried to laugh at them, even if the subject is very serious, from my point of view. I respect your opinion, but I say what I say,” he explained in an interview with Italian radio show Radio Punto Nuovo during their ‘Punto Nuovo Sport Show’ broadcast earlier on today.

Garlando, who is a journalist for Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, went on to add: “You can argue about criticism, but don’t call people who think differently from you alcoholics.

“Even Gattuso’s statement on Sunday make it seem that there is an intolerance toward criticism.”

Garlando then went on to discuss his thoughts on Serie A this season and the race for the Serie A title this season.

“It’s a strange league, with strange conditions. On the last match day almost everyone drew, the next games will say something more.

“My feeling is that Juve have shown great growth and great strength. I expect Inter will also come out in the long run.

“Napoli are among the favourites, they can win the Scudetto but it is too bad that Napoli are their own worst enemy.

“The team is strong, these two matches against AC Milan and Rome are coming and they will say a lot. Fonseca has found the right place, winning without Dzeko is an important sign.”
