Inter and Uruguayan national team central midfielder Matias Vecino has shared that he hopes to return to action in little under two months time.
The former Fiorentina player underwent surgery in the final weeks of last season and has not featured whatsoever for the club this season.
“If all goes well, I hope to return to play in January,” he explained in an interview with Uruguayan news outlet El Observador.
Next he spoke on how he decided to be treated by the clinic that he has been treated by.
“It was through Luis Suárez that I came to this clinic as he too was operated on there. At first I had conservative treatment to see if I would avoid surgery. After two months of this treatment, I went back to being available to the coach only for two games and I felt a pain again.”
He then went on to reveal that he has suffered a set back during his recovery from injury which will mean he will be back a few weeks later than initially expected.
“The recovery time after a meniscal suture range from four to five months, depending on how things evolve.
“In my case, in the second month I underwent a very simple cleansing arthroscopy due to an infection, which is quite normal they told me, so it delayed my recovery time by two to three weeks.”
In conclusion Vecino spoke on professor Alejandro Souto, who is helping him with the recovery process.
“Alejandro is a friend I met at Nacional in 2012 and from there I have always worked with him personally and in parallel with the club or for a specific situation like in this case.
“Now he has come to help me and train me. If all goes well, I hope to be available to play in January.”
Vecino, who joined Inter in the Summer of 2017, has made 96 appearances across all competitions to date for Inter, in which he has scored 11 goals and provided six assists for his teammates. He is contracted to Inter until 2022.
