Inter owned goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio has shared his excitement ahead of loan club Monza’s friendly match against his parent club tomorrow afternoon at the Suning Training Centre.

“As of today I am on loan at Monza, so I am still tied to Inter. The match has a particular flavour to it for me and even if it will be a friendly, it will be a good experience,” he explained in an interview with Italian news outlet Monza-news.

Di Gregorio proceeded to sing the praises of current Inter number one goalkeeper Samir Handanovic and what it was like for him to train alongside the veteran Slovenian shot-stopper and other Inter first team players.

“Samir, not just on a Sunday in games but up close in person, during the week in all his work on the field and off the field, such as in the gym, is a point of reference for my growth.

“When I had the opportunity to train with them and with Handanovic himself I was a boy who was approaching real football, the professional one.”

Di Gregorio is a product of Inter’s youth academy and has a contract with the club through to the end of the 2023/24 season.

His loan spell with Monza this term is far from his first, with him also having had loan spells with Renate, Avellino, Novara and Pordenone.

The 23-year-old has not yet made any senior appearances for Inter but was hugely impressive as Primavera level for the club as he kept 17 clean sheets in 34 games for Inter’s highest youth side.
