Radja Nainggolan could be given a first opportunity to start for Inter this season in competitive action in the upcoming match against Torino according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Nainggolan is currently the only midfielder left at Inter at the moment due to all others being away on international duty and he can use this time to prove himself to Inter manager Antonio Conte.

If Nainggolan does well, it would not be a surprise to see him among the starters versus Torino. Conte will ultimately have to make his usual assessments and take players away on national team duty into account and given that three days after Torino Inter will face Real Madrid, it is inevitable that rotation will be abundant.

Nainggolan will be able to stake his claim for a start against Torino in tomorrow afternoon’s friendly versus Serie B club Monza.

The report goes on to state that Conte is continuing to search for the third part in his midfield. Nicolo Barella and Arturo Vidal have been two constants whilst the third role has been filled by both Marcelo Brozovic and Roberto Gagliardini.

Given the continued absences of both Matias Vecino and Stefano Sensi, it could be a real chance for Nainggolan to get into the team.

In short, Nainggolan must demonstrate that he deserves trust from Conte. He must leave aside the nostalgia for Cagliari and stop questioning himself and ultimately it is a question of mentality. If Nainggolan is on the field there will be few doubts as he has the means to make the difference.
