Inter full back Aleksandar Kolarov has returned to Milan and will not play in Serbia’s Nations League games against Hungary and Russia, according to a report from Serbian media outlet RTS.

The report details how the 34-year-old Serbian veteran did not feature in the Euro 2020 playoff against Scotland earlier this week, after deciding that his physical fitness was not up to scratch.

The former Roma and Manchester City man did not want to risk exacerbating his muscle injury, and so requested to miss the game. The player has now returned to Milan at Inter’s request, and will return into coach Antonio Conte’s fold.

Kolarov will not feature against Hungary or Russia for Serbia in their Nations League campaign, the report continues, and so now he can focus on returning to full fitness.

The 34-year-old Serbian veteran has made six appearances across all competitions so far this season, and disappointed in the left centre back role.
