Former Inter and AC Milan forward Antonio Cassano discussed a conversation he had with Nerazzurri sporting director Piero Ausilio and the best clubs in Europe when speaking with Christian Vieri in an Instagram live yesterday. His words were noted by Italian media outlet PassioneInter.
“I told Piero Ausilio four months ago to follow Alguacil and he agreed with me! Coach with fresh ideas, personality, they need these types of coaches.”
Cassano then spoke about the best clubs in the world currently, as well as discussing Barcelona star Lionel Messi.
“I think Bayern Munich and Liverpool are ahead of everyone. Barcelona always has a chance with Lionel Messi. Then Manchester City will have to do something important in Europe sooner or later.
“The all-time record in Argentina of finals played and goals scored is by Messi. What are we talking about? He has 70 goals for the national team, Maradona a little more than 30. Then Messi has always played with great forwards, Higuain and others, but never with great defenders or goalkeepers.”
Finally, Cassano commented on Roma legend Francesco Totti’s recent battle with Covid-19.
“He told me that the Coronavirus didn’t bother him, he got scared, he had Covid and was home for ten days.”
The 49-year-old Imanol Alguacil is currently coaching Spanish side Real Sociedad, who are currently top of La Liga after nine games, sitting on 20 points.
Alguacil’s side have won all of their last five games in the league and are four points ahead of Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid. They drew 0-0 with Los Blancos earlier this season.
Inter are currently 7th in Serie A after seven games, sitting on 12 points, one behind rivals and reigning champions Juventus. The Nerazzurri’s next game is against Torino next weekend.
