The Italian football federation (FIGC) are seeking clarity with regard to the COVID-19 protocol after Roberto Gagliardini’s situation according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Gagliardini’s test result when he was away with the Italian national team was considered to be doubtful and whilst this was no problem for UEFA, who were happy to allow him to play, this goes against the protocol currently in place in Italy.

Due to the protocol in Italy, Gagliardini was sent home from the Italy training camp as a precaution and as a result, FIGC are looking for some clarity to be provided by the technical scientific committee.

Gagliardini joined Inter back in 2017 and has since went on to make just over 100 appearances for the Nerazzurri in the time since.

The 26-year-old has made five appearances across all competitions to date this term, in which he has scored one goal and also provided a single assist for his teammates.
