Inter central defender Stefan de Vrij has admitted that whilst happy with the result over Bosnia & Herzegovina, he feels he and his Dutch national team teammates can still improve in certain aspects.

Frank de Boer’s side ran out 3-1 winners at the Johan Cruijff ArenA against Bosnia & Herzegovina in UEFA Nations League action with Georginio Wijnaldum scoring either side of a goal from Memphis Depay.

The result has the Netherlands sitting in second place in UEFA Nations League League A group 1 with one game to go. They trail group leaders Italy by one point and could well top the group depending on Italy’s result, provided that they win away to Poland.

“We are happy with the result – said de Vrij after the final whistle – I have seen many good things, but also things that could be improved,” de Vrij explained to the media following the match, as reported by Italian news outlet PassioneInter.com.

“We have created a lot of chances and played at a fast pace. We tried to dominate them, but we also need to be less superficial.

“Sometimes we lost the ball badly, which meant being open about their counterattacks and giving them a lot of space. We still have to work on it.”

This season the former Lazio defender, who has made 38 appearances for Holland, has made eight appearances across all competitions to date for Inter but has not made any goal contributions.
