Inter duo Alessandro Bastoni and Nicolo Barella shone and shone brightly in the Italian national team’s UEFA Nations League win over Poland last night according to the player ratings published in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Italy won the match 2-0 thanks to goals from Jorginho and Domenico Berardi at Sassuolo’s MAPEI Stadium, a result which put the Azzurri top of League A group 1 with one game to spare.

Bastoni has been handed a rating of 7.5 for his efforts in the match, in which he came up against one of the toughest opponents of his career yet in Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, who is arguably the best striker on the planet.

The Milan based news outlet said the following about his performance: “The future, now. He played as a veteran against Lewandowski. He didn’t miss a beat.”

As for Barella, the former Cagliari man, who is into his second season as an Inter player, was given a rating of 7/10 for his performance.

Gazzetta dello Sport said: “What a player Barella has become. A complete midfielder always with his face toward the goal. You see him in attack and then defending. Too bad for his inaccuracy when it comes to shooting.”
