Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport have sang the praises of Inter duo Alessandro Bastoni and Nicolo Barella off the back of their performances for Italy last night as part of the player ratings published in today’s print edition.

Italy ran out 2-0 winners over Poland yesterday night at Sassuolo’s MAPEI Stadium with the Azzurri’s goals coming from Jorginho and Domenico Berardi.

Bastoni was handed his second appearance for the Italian national team and found himself marking Bayern Munich striker Roberto Lewandwoski, who is widely regarded as one of, if not, the best striker on the planet right now.

The former Atalanta player has been given a rating of 7/10 for his efforts and Tuttosport said the following about his performance: “He stuck to Lewandowski and never gave up and even took a deadly elbow to the face. He always disengages with great confidence.”

Barella, who meanwhile made his 17th appearance for the senior national team, was also given a rating of 7 for his performance in Reggio Emilia.

Tuttosport had the following to say about what the former Cagliari man did on the field: “He practically worked as an attacking midfielder close to the attacking line.

“He is looking to pass the ball to his teammates, he tried to insert himself but was poorly positioned in the high press compared to his teammates. He didn’t express any dynamism in second half despite the team firing on all cylinders.”
