Napoli are working on acquiring Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri on loan for the second half of the 2020/21 season according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The Stadio San Paolo club are thinking of taking him on a six month loan deal and there is an intermediary already testing the waters with Chelsea on behalf of Napoli.

Emerson recently shared his desire to one day return to Serie A, where he previously played for Roma, and also has both Inter and Juventus on his trail in addition to Napoli.

The 26-year-old has found himself frozen out at Chelsea this season. He has made four appearances across all competitions to date but only one of these has been a starter. He has not been in the squad for seven of Chelsea’s eight Premier League games either.

The Brazilian born Italian national team player joined Chelsea in January 2018 and is contracted to them until the end of next season.
