Inter and Atalanta are both interested in signing Santos and Venezuelan national team midfielder Yeferson Soteldo according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

Soteldo has been likened to Atalanta’s Papu Gomez due to the fact he is both similar in size and shares similar characteristics to the Argentine.

The 23-year-old’s contractual situation with Brazilian side Santos is quite unique and this could push multiple clubs to make moves to sign him.

Although contracted to Santos, he is not actually owned by them. Santos brought Soteldo to the club from Huachipato in Chile but could not pay the $3 million fee due to a lack of funds.

FIFA ruled that Huachipato own Soteldo and they can sell him whenever they chose and for whatever price they want and they do not need to notify Santos, who will get 10% of a future sale, up to a maximum of $200,000.

Huachipato currently value Soteldo at €10 million but this price could be lowered if the buying club offers a % of a future sale.
