In an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV, Inter central defender Andrea Ranocchia has stressed the importance of Inter’s upcoming Champions League group stage match at home to Real Madrid.

Inter head into next Wednesday’s match at San Siro currently rooted to the bottom of the group B table with them having not performed how they were expected to in the competition.

Antonio Conte’s side have just two points from their first three group stage games and lost last time out to Los Blancos, who are the most successful club in the history of the competition.

The sides will lock horns again on Wednesday evening and many have billed the match as being a crucial one as far as Inter’s chances of progression in the competition are concerned.

“We started well, ours is an important path but now we want to improve and get back to winning against Torino,” Ranocchia began the interview, which was broadcast a short time ago.

“The match against Real Madrid? It will be essential to win to continue our journey in Europe.”

This season the experienced Italia has made two appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has provided one assist.
