Inter are at work trying to sign promising central defender Alessandro Bastoni to a new longer term contract with the club according to a report from Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

First contact regarding a contract extension until the end of the 2024/25 season has been made and the report complains that the contact had regarding a new deal for the new Italian national team player was positive.

There is a feeling that a new deal can be done by the first few days in January 2021 and this is also for budgetary reasons.

Bastoni joined Inter in the Summer of 2017 in a €31 million deal from fellow Serie A club Atalanta and he is currently under contract with the Nerazzurri until 2023.

This season the 21-year-old, who had his first team breakthrough at Inter last season, has made seven appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, he has provided a single assist.
