Italy’s three biggest daily sports newspapers Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport have given mixed reviews of Nicolo Barella following his performance in Italy’s 2-0 UEFA Nations League win away to Bosnia & Herzegovina last night.

The Inter central midfielder played the entirety of the match at the Stadion Grbavica in the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo and this was his 18th appearance across all competitions for Italy.

Gazzetta dello Sport have given Barella a rating of 6.5/10 for his performance and had the following to say about it: “It is impossible to expect Champions League final fury every time. He was more quiet than usual but always involved in the build-up.”

Corriere dello Sport meanwhile gave Barella a better rating by half a point as they gave him a rating of 7/10. The Rome based news outlet reacted to his performance as follows: “He was everywhere, as always. He attacks, recovers the ball, crosses and supports, this guy has an extraordinary gift and that is that he can be found where he is needed.”

Turin based daily newspaper Tuttosport meanwhile matched Gazzetta dello Sport and gave Barella a 6.5 rating: “In the role of attacking midfielder he still has to improve a little bit in terms of inserting himself. He showed the usual dynamism.”

The 23-year-old, who is under contract with Inter until the end of the 2022/23 season, has made 10 appearances for Inter this term, in which he has provided four assists.
