Former Inter and Moroccan national team player Houssine Kharja has stated that Achraf Hakimi has to adapt to his new Inter teammates just like they have to adapt to him.

Hakimi joined Inter in the most recent Summer transfer window from Spanish powerhouses Real Madrid in a €45 million, including add-ons, deal.

The highly rated wing-back made a good start to life in the Nerazzurri shirt but his performances have dropped off in recent weeks.

“I felt he did well in the national team. He scored and Morocco handled the game well, it wasn’t particularly tiring,” Kharja began an interview with Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

Kharja, who spent the second half of the 2010/11 season on loan at Inter, then went on to add: “I hope he can do what the Nerazzurri signed him for. He is strong. Sometimes his teammates don’t find him at the right time, they have to adapt to him and vice versa.”

The 38-year-old, who got 78 caps for Morocco between 2003 and 2015, then spoke on this season’s title race in Serie A and shared who he thinks his favourites to win it are.

“Juve will struggle this year. I enjoy watching Sassuolo play. There is Napoli and then AC Milan with Ibra, who has won championships all over the world. I hope Inter win. The second part of the season will be decisive.”

During his six month stint with Inter, the former Genoa and Fiorentina player made 19 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he scored one goal and tallied five assists.
