Inter plan to tie central defender Alessandro Bastoni down to a new contract according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
Inter were criticised when they spent €31 million on Bastoni back in 2017 given his lack of experience but Bastoni has experienced exponential growth in the past year or so, during which he has established himself in the Inter first team, has cemented himself as one of the best young defenders out there right now and is also part of the Italian national team.
The report also claim that Manchester City were willing to pay more than €50 million to sign Bastoni during the Summer but Inter closed the door to any negotiations.
Bastoni is currently under contract with Inter until the end of the 2022/23 season. This season the 21-year-old has made seven appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has provided a single assist for his teammates.
