A report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport has detailed Inter’s work negotiating contract renewals with their squad.
The report details how the Milanese club and coach Antonio Conte both agree that the right time to offer new contracts is from June onwards.
There are three reasons for this. The first is because it is distracting for the players currently involved in the talks, the second is because signing the extension makes the player feel satisfied and the final reason is because it can create issues in the dressing room if some feel that there isn’t equal treatment.
The only renewal likely to arrive soon is Italian defender Alessandro Bastoni, the report continues. His agent, Tullio Tinti, has already met with the club and the goal is to extend his deal until 2025, with double the salary.
The work to renew Lautaro Martinez’s contract is a little more complicated, as both his €111 million release clause and salary will need to be dealt with. Inter are ready to double his wages, but that is still below Barcelona’s €10 million salary offer from earlier this year.
The Nerazzurri have the option to extend Danilo D’Ambrosio’s contract for an extra year, which may be enacted in January.
The club also promised that Nicolo Barella, whose current deal expires in 2024, would receive higher wages.
Super agent Mino Raiola has also investigated a new deal for Stefan de Vrij, whose deal expires in 2023, but nothing has happened so far.
For the players whose contracts expire at the end of the season, like Ashley Young, they will enter contract talks after the completion of this Serie A campaign.
