Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin revealed how Inter considered Sassuolo coach Roberto De Zerbi as a replacement for Antonio Conte after the Europa League final loss to Sevilla in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster TMW Radio earlier today, as reported by FcInter1908.

“Conte doesn’t feel like changing his footballing identity. So that’s why I think Eriksen will leave Inter. I don’t think he’ll stay in Italy.

“It’s difficult to imagine Conte leaving Inter until the end of the season. The management considered De Zerbi as a replacement after the game against Sevilla.”

De Zerbi’s Sassuolo are currently second in the league table after seven games, sitting two points behind league leaders AC Milan.

The 41-year-old Italian coach, who is contracted to the Neroverdi until the end of the season, has been in the role since 2018.

Last season he guided the team to an eighth-place finish, with only the top teams in Italy ahead of them.

Antonio Conte’s Inter are currently eighth in the league after seven games, sitting on 12 points, three behind Sassuolo.

The Nerazzurri have had a poor start to the season, winning their first two games but only one more since then across all competitions.

Tomorrow’s match against Torino is an opportunity for the Nerazzurri to restart with good momentum, ahead of their Champions League clash against Real Madrid next week.
