Inter CEO Beppe Marotta discussed the Nerazzurri’s upcoming schedule, Alessandro Bastoni, Christian Eriksen and the Covid-19 pandemic in an interview with Italian broadcaster DAZN after the game.

“We have to live with this pandemic that often brings new positive cases and it is a situation that applies to all clubs. Certain things must be limited in time.

“A very special cycle begins for us. There will be about 10 games in 33 days and the players available must respond to the coach’s requests.”

He then moved onto talking about 21-year-old Italian defender Alessandro Bastoni, who made his debut for the Italian national team earlier this month.

“When one of our players wears their respective national team shirt it is always a source of pride for us.

“If you come back with good performances and goals it’s an additional motivation for the matches you face. In this case it’s a great moment for a great talent.”

Finally, Marotta spoke about the situation surrounding 28-year-old Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen, who publicly complained about his lack of playing time under coach Antonio Conte earlier this month.

“Yesterday Conte answered in a very comprehensive way. I clearly add that we will not hold a footballer back if they ask to be transferred. We will have to make the right evaluations.

“Conte is using him with respect for the player and the club. At the moment no offers have arrived, but at the appropriate time we will try to make the right decisions.”

Eriksen, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2024, has not adapted to Conte’s tactical system since arriving from Premier League side Tottenham in the last January transfer window.

In the last international break the player commented on his lack of playing time, and again reiterated that earlier this month, angering Conte and the Milanese club’s management.

He now seems destined to be sold in the upcoming January transfer window, with a possible swap deal with Paris Saint-Germain’s Leandro Paredes on the cards.
