Inter coach Antonio Conte spoke about the Milanese club’s thrilling 4-2 comeback win over Torino earlier today in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV after the game.

“These are three important points. It’s been a while since we won, coming from a comeback amongst other things. A game with two conclusions for sure, the first a bad one about Torino’s ferocity and our approach to that.

“The Granata practically consumed us with their level of fury, something that should never happen to us. The positive aspect is the reaction that followed, the furor we then showed.”

The 51-year-old Italian coach then discussed how the team need to improve in regards to their desire and desperation to win.

“We must have more fire and desire in us, it’s my job to feed that into each of the players. You have to understand that in addition to quality, you have to insert some fury and determination as well.

“Our opponents have to understand that we want to win, even before playing the game, not only in words but with results.

“We need to work on this, we have ample room for improvement, so that the old and new adapt to our way of thinking, to what we want to do. After all, we’re at Inter.”

The former Juventus and Chelsea coach also spoke about his usage of substitutions throughout the game.

“If you have to chance to change the game with substitutes it must be done. If there’s no absences especially, something that before we couldn’t do because of a lack of players in the squad.

“Today we created a very offensive squad in order to win the match, for the three points. Lukaku, Sanchez, Lautaro, midfielders like Vidal and Barella and two wing backs like Hakimi and Perisic, total attack.”

Finally, Conte commented on what the team still need to do to improve.

“Beyond the work currently in progress, we must not lack the fire, which together with organisation must be decisive and why we win.

“We must improve, but I repeat, the guys are intelligent and understand where we can improve and where we’ve gone wrong so far.”

The Nerazzurri’s win over the Granata was vital, with the Milanese winning their last league match against Genoa last month.

The three points puts Inter fifth in the league table after eight games, one behind rivals and reigning champions Juventus, who beat Cagliari yesterday.

Antonio Conte and the squad will now be looking ahead to next week’s vital Champions League match against Spanish giants Real Madrid, a must win game if the team want to progress to the next round.
