Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni discussed the Nerazzurri’s vital 4-2 win over Torino earlier today in an interview with Italian broadcaster DAZN after the game.

“We had the wrong attitude, maybe paying for the fact that we came back from our national teams recently. But we can’t excuse first halves like today.”

The 21-year-old Italian defender, who is contracted to the Milanese club until 2023, then commented on the progress surrounding his contract renewal.

“There’s willingness from everyone, I’m just thinking about doing well on the pitch.”

Finally, Bastoni spoke about if he is dreaming of becoming one of the key stars for both Inter and the Italian national team.

“I’m working on it, I know I’m still young but I don’t take that as an excuse. I think about doing well day after day, I try to do my best and I am aware that I can improve a lot.”

The 21-year-old Bastoni made his debut for the Azzurri earlier this month, impressing in three appearances under the guidance of coach Roberto Mancini.

The Italian centre back has made eight appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 641 minutes.

In that time, he’s provided one assist and helped the side keep two clean sheets.

The Nerazzurri’s win over the Granata today sees them climb to fifth in the league table after eight games, sitting one point behind rivals Juventus.
