Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni discussed the Nerazzurri’s thrilling 4-2 comeback win over Torino in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV after the game.
“We got off to a very bad start, we had a very bad approach and attitude to the game.
“We may have paid because of the international break, many of us have played a lot in this period, it is not an excuse but it happens. Then we were good to get it back in the second half.”
The 21-year-old Italian defender, who earnt his first Italy cap during the recent international break, then discussed the squad’s attitude and the schedule up to Christmas.
“Surely, we got the attitude wrong in the first half, we can’t be like this with quality teams like Torino and we paid for it, it must not happen.
“There are nine more games between now and Christmas that will all feel like cup finals. We will try to win them all.”
Finally, Bastoni spoke about his experiences with the Azzurri this month.
“It was a bit of a surprise, I had to go initially to the U21 squad and then I found myself playing three out of three games for the first team which is everyone’s dream.
“I’m happy but now I have to concentrate on Inter.”
The 21-year-old Bastoni, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, has made eight appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 641 minutes.
In that time, he’s provided one assist and helped the side keep two clean sheets.
Inter’s win means that they are now fifth in the league table after eight games, sitting on 15 points, one behind rivals Juventus.
The Nerazzurri’s next game is a key Champions League fixture against Spanish giants Real Madrid. A win is needed if Antonio Conte’s side want to progress out of the group stage, considering that they’ve only collected two points so far.
