Inter striker Romelu Lukaku discussed the Nerazzurri’s important 4-2 win over Torino earlier today in an interview with Italian broadcaster DAZN after the game.

“Honestly, we are not a great team, it is not good to experience difficulties like this. We played badly for 60 minutes, we were really in trouble and we played without malice and desire.

“Then we woke up and we won, that’s the important thing.”

The 27-year-old Belgian forward revealed that he did not feel like a leader amongst the squad.

“No, I am a player who wants to help his teammates. I don’t like to be called a leader, there are a lot of experienced players.

“I am only 27 years old and I want to help the team to win but we have to give more. Today we did not play a great game.”

The former Manchester United player agreed with Belgium coach Roberto Martinez’s suggestion that he was experiencing the best period in his career.

“Yes, but I always try to improve to become a champion, that is, those who win something. This is my ambition, I am in a great team with a great coach.”

Finally, Lukaku explained his celebration with teammate Lautaro Martinez.

“We’ll play a war videogame, this week I’ll give him a PS5 so he can start to learn too.”

The Nerazzurri’s key 4-2 win over the Granata leaves them fifth in the league table after eight games, sitting on 15 points. They are one point behind rivals Juventus.

Lukaku, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2024, made his ninth appearance of the season against Torino earlier today, bringing his current playing total to 711 minutes across all competitions.

In that time, the 27-year-old Belgian has scored nine goals and provided two assists.

The Nerazzurri’s next game is against Real Madrid next week.
