Italian journalist Giovanni Capuano discussed Inter coach Antonio Conte and his statements about midfielder Christian Eriksen in a post on his Twitter page yesterday.

The 51-year-old Italian coach was asked about the Danish midfielder, who complained during the international break about his lack of playing time in Milan.

Conte responded by highlighting how the player has been given many chances, more than some other players in the squad.

He also noted how Eriksen would not be able to play as a more defensive midfielder, similar to the role played by Andrea Pirlo in his Juventus squad years ago.

Capuano discussed Conte’s comments and the Danish midfielder, saying:

“Conte’s rejection of Eriksen seems clear and definitive. In essence, the coach is saying, he has played as much and more than others.

“If needed he’ll call him again but he doesn’t see him and won’t try him in different tactical positions to try to adapt to him.”

The 28-year-old Dane has struggled to adapt to Conte’s tactical system since joining from Tottenham in the January transfer window.

So far this season, he has made seven appearances across all competitions, failing to contribute to a goal or the required intensity.
