Man City Registered Interested In Inter’s Romelu Lukaku But Talks Never Began, Italian Media Highlight

Manchester City were interested in signing Inter striker Romelu Lukaku but no figures were ever discussed, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the English side are looking for a long-term replacement for consistent goal scorer Sergio Aguero, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

The Premier League club set aside £70 million to buy a new forward, with Lukaku an option, but were pushed away but the Nerazzurri’s £93.75 million valuation of the Belgian.

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola is a fan of the 27-year-old, the report continues, and the Citizens did contact the Milanese club, but no negotiations began and figures were never discussed.

Lukaku is happy in Milan and enjoys playing under coach Antonio Conte.

So far this season, the former Manchester United striker has scored seven goals in eight appearances across all competitions.
