AC Milan could move to sign Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud in January according to a report from the online edition of Italian daily newspaper Quotidiano Sportivo.

With talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic facing a few weeks out on the sidelines due to injury, it has highlighted the Rossoneri’s need for a deputy to him given their only out and out striker in the squad is youngster Lorenzo Colombo.

By bringing in a deputy, Ibrahimovic would get a chance to rest and would also give AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli a viable alternative in the attack.

Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik is an option who could be pursued whilst Real Madrid’s Mariano Diaz and Giroud are both also other options that AC Milan could pursue. As per the report, Diaz or Giroud could possibly arrive at AC Milan on loan from their respective clubs.

AC Milan are not the first Italian club to have been linked with signing Giroud ahead of the January transfer window with Inter also having been heavily linked with moving for him.
