Noted Italian football journalist Sandro Piccinini has shared his belief that Inter did not just lack ferocity in their in the first hour of their match versus Torino on Sunday afternoon at San Siro.
Inter played very poorly in the first hour of the encounter against La Granata and found themselves 2-0 down at the hour mark.
Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku had Inter level by the 67th minute and from there Inter went on to perform how they were expected to and Torino simply did not have answer for Inter, who would score again through Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez and would win 4-2.
“Conte talking about ferocity? I can also be a coach if it’s like this. In the first hour of the game that was not all that was missing. There is a tactical discussion to be had,” Piccinini explained in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, following the match.
Piccinini then spoke on Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta’s comments regarding Christian Eriksen’s future with the club, in which he revealed the club would not keep a hold of anyone who wishes to leave the club.
“Marotta virtually gave the go ahead for the sale of Eriksen but try to back him up a bit. In that area of the pitch, Inter lacks quality.”
In conclusion Piccinini stressed the importance of Romelu Lukaku to Inter after his contribution to the game at San Siro on Sunday afternoon: “Lukaku is fundamental, it is very important for the Nerazzurri to cling on to him.”
