Manchester City have a 10 year plan in mind for transfer target Lionel Messi according to a report from the online edition of British newspaper The Times.

The Premier League club are one of a number of clubs to have been linked with signing the Barcelona talisman, whose contract with the club is due to expire at the end of this season.

As per this report, Manchester City’s owners have a grand plan in mind for Messi and have already prepared a 10 year contract for him.

Messi would play for Manchester City for a few seasons and then have the pick of the other City Group clubs New York City FC, Yokohama F. Marinos and Melbourne City to finish his playing career.

Upon finishing his career as a player, Messi, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, will become a world ambassador for the City Group.

Having such an ambassador could help City in their bid to consecrate themselves among the elite.

Inter have also been strongly linked with Messi and a recent report has even suggested that the Nerazzurri are prepared to offer him a contract worth €50 million a year.
