Inter club captain and number one goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has admitted that whilst Inter find themselves in a complicated situation in the UEFA Champions League, there will continue to be hope.

Inter remain bottom of group B after four games played and require a perfect ending to the group and a great deal of luck in order to stand any chance of making it into the next round of the competition.

They currently have just two points from a possible 12.

“It is certainly a complicated situation, but hope is the last thing to die. We knew it would be a difficult group, we have shown that we can stay there.

“But it is what happens on the pitch that decides who goes through and who does not,” the Slovenian shot-stopper remarked in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia following the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 home defeat to Real Madrid.

He then went on to add: “Real Madrid are a team less used to defending than they are passing the ball. They have players who have quality and know how to play.

“Moving the ball became more difficult for us because they made us spin around in circles.”

Handanovic joined Inter back in the Summer of 2012 and has since went on to make 353 appearances across all competitions for the club, in which he has managed to keep 124 clean sheets.

This season the 36-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has kept two clean sheets in 11 appearances.
