Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has discussed what he has described as Inter’s new journey which began last season.

“Amid a context of extreme uncertainty, Inter began a new journey. We finished second in the league, just one point off the top, and we competed in a European final for the first time in ten years,” he explained following Inter’s annual shareholders meeting which took place this afternoon.

Marotta also spoke on the young players who emerged at the club over the course of the last year: “We also brought through talented young players which represent the future of the club from both a sporting and assets perspective.”

The former Juventus executive, who has been at Inter for about two years now, then went on to share his belief that thanks to the foundations laid, Inter will be successful again and that the club are targeting improvement year on year in terms of results on the pitch.

“We laid strong foundations which will, in time, allow us to be successful again. Our objective remains to constantly improve results, season after season.”

Inter have not started the season how they were expected to. They are currently sitting in fifth place in Serie A, five points behind league leaders AC Milan.

The Nerazzurri club are also on the brink of elimination from the UEFA Champions League at the group stage. Whilst not impossible to qualify for the next round just yet, Inter need to win both of their last games and require some luck with other results.
