Antonio Conte is not at any risk of being removed from his position as Inter manager according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Inter have not started the season how they were expected to. They have made a troubled start to the league campaign and are on the brink of elimination from the UEFA Champions League at the group stage.

Despite this, the report explains that as far as Inter are concerned, whilst there is disappointment, there is still confidence and the project continues based on the assumptions made at Villa Bellini summit a few months.

The Milan based news outlet go on to ponder how much of an impact Inter’s lack of rest between the end of last season and start of this season has had on things.

Inter had less of a break than anyone else and this season is almost like a continuation of last season.

There is currently no disconnect between the Inter team and Conte but there is without doubt exhaustion. Psychological fatigue and anxiety are also having an impact on the situation.

Gazzetta dello Sport go on to add that Conte would have liked a new left wing-back and a defensive midfielder. He is convinced that if he had these players things would be very different.

The report concludes that whilst Conte has stuck with his tried and tested 3-5-2 system, the current circumstances could force Conte to try something else from a tactical point of view even if he is notoriously known for his lack of tactical flexibility.
