Inter coach Antonio Conte discussed the Nerazzurri’s vital 3-0 win over Sassuolo in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia after the game.

“We always try to give our best, sometimes we don’t succeed and other times we do. But we always give 100%, so the important thing is that we always leave the field with a sweaty shirt.”

He revealed that he did not change the tactics for this game.

“I haven’t changed anything at all.”

The Italian coach touched on the slightly different role occupied by Italian midfielder Nicolo Barella against the Neroverdi today.

“Yes, the game was prepared for in a certain way also because you have to respect the opponent. It’s the first time that Barella plays deep, he also had the task of getting up in decisive situations. A beautiful win.”

The 51-year-old did not think this was Inter’s best performance of the season so far.

“I do not agree, we have had better ones. Perhaps the result always pushes the judgments.”

Conte touched on the team’s decisiveness in the game.

“On the decisiveness and furor I agree with you, on a football quality level we’ve done better. Combining them both makes you even stronger.”

The former Chelsea and Juventus coach commented on the preparations for today’s clash.

“Matches change, it is not always the same score. The opponent also changes and we must be good at adapting.

“Today was a game well prepared, studied in the right way. Congratulations to my players because it is not easy at Inter, in general.”

He revealed why it is not easy at Inter.

“Nothing is easy. People can’t wait to throw negativity at Inter, we must be good, airtight and think about ourselves. Working knowing that there are people who can’t wait to complain.

“People can’t wait to throw, I’m not saying what. I have coached a lot of teams, but I have never seen this doggedness regardless, which also affects the players.

“But we are one front and we must be one from here to the end. On the contrary, some situations must give us even more strength.”

Finally, Conte spoke about whether the team management’s trust in him makes a difference.

“Responsibilities must always be divided. Only three months ago I said certain things, it hasn’t been so long. We must always be united. Criticism should not only be directed to the coach and players.

“The coach can be a solution, not the only one. With a boat in a storm, everyone has to row so as not to let it sink. I hope we are all in the same boat.”

Inter’s win has put them on 18 points, tied in second place with Sassuolo after nine games. Both teams are two points behind league leaders AC Milan, who can extend their lead with a win over Fiorentina tomorrow afternoon.
