Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia discussed the Nerazzurri’s upcoming league clash against Sassuolo in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV before the game.

“Today we face a prepared team that know what they have to do, but we absolutely must win the game, there are no other terms and expectations.

“We have to get the three points and go back up front where we deserve to be.”

He discussed the threats of Roberto De Zerbi’s Neroverdi squad.

“Both us and them offensively create a lot and score a lot and today we have to score more goals than them, there is little else to do.”

The 32-year-old Italian defender also touched on the difficulties of today’s Serie A clash.

“We must be good and compact. It’s a game where we will work very hard from start to finish.

“We have to remain concentrated but we have prepared for it well and now it’s up to us to show that.”

Ranocchia, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until the end of the season, has made three appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 254 minutes.

In that time, he has provided one assist and helped the side keep one clean sheet.

Antonio Conte’s Inter are currently fifth in the league table after eight games, sitting on 15 points, three less than Sassuolo, who are second.

A win is absolutely crucial for the Nerazzurri after their incredibly disappointing performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League earlier this week.

The Milanese club’s next European commitment is against German side Borussia Monchengladbach next week.
