Inter forward Alexis Sanchez is set to start alongside Lautaro Martinez against Sassuolo this afternoon, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the 31-year-old Chilean forward, who is contracted to the Milanese club until 2023, will make his fifth start of the season against the Neroverdi today, filling in for Belgian star Romelu Lukaku.

Coach Antonio Conte wants to rest Lukaku ahead of next week’s Champions League clash against German side Borussia Monchengladbach, and so will deploy Sanchez from the start against Sassuolo.

Sanchez has made nine appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 364 minutes. In that time, he has scored one goal and provided three assists, struggling to find the back of the net despite numerous chances.

Lukaku has scored nine goals and provided two assists in 10 appearances so far this season, showing his importance to the Nerazzurri.
