Former Brescia defender Paolo Ziliani commented on the strong performance of Inter defender Milan Skriniar yesterday against Sassuolo in a post on his Twitter page.
The 25-year-old Slovakian defender, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, played the full 90 minutes in the 3-0 win over the Neroverdi, impressing with his strong defensive qualities.
The former Sampdoria man was close to a move away from Milan in the summer transfer window, with Premier League side Tottenham reportedly interested in acquiring the player.
A deal never materialised and, after a long battle with Covid-19, Skriniar has finally returned to giving his best for Antonio Conte’s side.
Skriniar has made six appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 464 minutes. In that time, he’s helped the side keep one clean sheet.
The 25-year-old has been with the Nerazzurri since 2017, joining from Sampdoria.
Ziliani discussed the Slovakian defender on Twitter, saying:
“So, in the end the idea of selling Skriniar, who was not the good defender that everybody thought, was – to say like Fantozzi – crazy sh*t.
“Skriniar is in fact an excellent defender even in spite of those who try to reinvent the game of football.”
