Former Inter and AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf spoke about the current position of Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen in an interview in yesterday’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

“Eriksen is one of the best players around for years. He has had some ups and downs but soon he will be the player we all know again. I would not leave if I were him, sooner or later he will play and he will do it as he knows.

“Adapting to a new country and a new club is not easy, we have many examples of top players who won the Golden Ball changing their team and not being able to play at their best level anymore. He needs time, as well as the club, to adapt at his best.”

The 28-year-old Eriksen, who is contracted to the Milanese club until 2024, has not adapted to coach Antonio Conte’s tactical system since joining from Premier League side Tottenham in the January transfer window, in a deal worth around €20 million.

The former Tottenham man has complained publicly to the media twice already this season about his lack of playing time, frustrating the Nerazzurri’s management and Conte.

Both Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and Conte alluded in interviews that the player was welcome to leave in the upcoming January transfer window, with French giants Paris Saint-Germain reportedly interested.

Eriksen has made nine appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 310 minutes. In that time, he has remained mostly invisible and has not contributed to a goal.
