Olivier Giroud is seriously evaluating leaving Chelsea according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper FCInterNews.it.

Giroud currently finds himself as Chelsea’s third choice striker which is not the best position for him to be in ahead of this coming Summer’s European Championship’s.

After winning the World Cup back in 2018, the veteran forward also wants to win the European Championship and with him having just turned 34-years-old, next year’s tournament represents the last chance for him.

Inter have a long standing interested in signing Giroud and a move would suit all parties. Giroud would be able to move to a club where he could get more game time which will only help him in his bid to be included in the French squad whilst Inter will get an extra striker that they have needed for a long time.

Giroud’s contract with Chelsea is due to expire at the end of this season and the report explains that Giroud would like a six month deal with an option to a further year.

Chelsea demanded €5 million last January but could potentially let him for as little as €2 million. Inter are remaining vigilant and are studying a deal that would be similar to the one that they brought Ashley Young to the club in.
