Gladbach Coach Marco Rose: “Inter Must Win & We Must Ensure This Doesn’t Happen”

Borussia Monchengladbach manager Marco Rose has admitted that he and his side had expected to do more than they have on the domestic front ahead of their penultimate UEFA Champions League group stage match at home to Inter.

“Domestically speaking, we are seventh in the Bundesliga, we have been throwing away too much points,” he explained in an interview with Italian’s broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, which was broadcast yesterday evening.

“We could have expected something more but we’re not that far off. We want to repeat ourselves after last year’s fourth place, but there are many teams fighting for this goal.”

Rose then went on to reflect on the 2-2 draws that his side achieved against both Inter and Real Madrid, two sides who were very much expected to beat his side.

“The draw with Inter and Real Madrid were very tough. In Milan, in the first match, we took a long time to express ourselves as we wanted.

In conclusion the former RB Salzburg manager spoke on Inter striker Romelu Lukaku and admitted that he is aware that Inter will be coming into this match needing to win if they wish to stand any chance of making it past the group stage of the competition.

“Romelu Lukaku is an extraordinary player whom you have to defend optimally. Inter must win and will arrive at this match fully prepared to achieve this goal. We must ensure that this does not happen.”

Borussia Monchengladbach versus Inter is scheduled to take place at Borussia Park tonight with kick off scheduled for 9pm local time in Germany.
