Gladbach Midfielder Florian Neuhaus: “It Was Tough To Keep Having To Come From Behind Against Inter”

Borussia Monchengladbach central midfielder Florian Neuhaus has admitted that it was tough for him and his teammates last night against Inter and that there is disappointment with the way the game ended.

Inter took the lead early on through Matteo Darmian before Alassane Plea equalised for the hosts on the stroke of half time. Romelu Lukaku would then score twice to put Inter 3-1 up and Plea would score another to reduce the deficit to one. Late on Plea would score again although the goal was chopped off and in the end Inter won 3-2.

“We fought back well after Inter went 1-0 up. They took a step back and we controlled the game and deservedly equalised before the break,” he explained in an interview with Borussia Monchengladbach’s official club website.

“We made changes for the second half and wanted to find a second goal. Inter then took the lead in a period in which we were on top.

“They then got a third goal, but we fought back again to make it 3-2 and then equalised before it was chalked off,” he continued.

He then went on to express his thoughts with regards to the goal that was cancelled due to Breel Embolo being judged as offside: “Alassane played a good ball, got it back and then put it in the far corner. I can’t say if Embolo was offside.”

Neuhaus, who recently made his debut for the German national team, went on to share his thoughts on how Inter played and shared his disappointment with the end result.

“It was tough to keep having to come from behind against Inter. They were very compact and didn’t give us much space. Nevertheless, we still managed to find some gaps. Ultimately, it’s disappointing that our two goals weren’t enough in the end.”
