Inter manager Antonio Conte has shared his delight with the performance that the team put in in their UEFA Champions League group stage win over Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Nerazzurri ran out 3-2 winners in Germany over the group B leaders thanks to a goal from Matteo Darmian and a brace from Romelu Lukaku, who took his goal tally to 11 goals in as many games this term.

“It was an excellent performance, the win was deserved,” he explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, following the full time whistle at Borussia Park last night.

Despite the win, which was Inter’s second consecutive win across all competitions, Conte then refused to get too carried away.

“We had many opportunities to extend our advantage, these are games that make us grow. We have not done anything yet.”

The former Juventus and Italian national team boss then went on to discuss what this result means for Inter and looked ahead to next week’s group stage finale at home to Shakhtar Donetsk, who they drew 0-0 with away from home earlier on in the group stage.

“We are alive, we could have died sportingly but we have the last match against Shakhtar. The only thing we can do is win and hope that in the other match they do not draw.”
