Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has shared his delight with the team’s 3-2 win over Borussia Monchengladbach in the UEFA Champions League group stage, a result which allows Inter to fight for qualification to the knockout stages in their final group stage game next week.

“I am very happy with this win because today’s match was very important,” he told Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV following the full time whistle in Germany.

“It was a final like all of our other matches are in the league but especially in the Champions League. I am very happy with the victory, we must continue like this.”

Asked if this is a victory that could change Inter’s season, the Belgian national team attacker explained: “We hope so, we have to keep working.”

He then looked ahead to this weekend’s Serie A match versus Bologna, who are currently sitting in 10th place in the standings.

“On Saturday we have another match against Bologna who is a strong team, last year we lost to them. We must continue to grow and work every day also in the league.”

Next the former Manchester United player, who is into his second year at Inter, was asked if their Champions League fate is back in their hands following this win: “Yes, we hope that first we have a good match against Bologna which could be preparation for the match against Shakhtar.”

This season Lukaku, who is under contract with Inter until the end of the 2023/24 season, has made 11 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 11 goals and provided his teammates with two assists.
