Italian Media Unanimous In Praise Of Inter Coach Antonio Conte After Champions League Win

Italy’s three biggest Italian daily newspapers Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport have been unanimous in their praise of Inter manager Antonio Conte off the back of Inter’s UEFA Champions League group stage win over Borussia Monchengladbach.

Thanks to an early goal from wing-back Matteo Darmian and a brace from Romelu Lukaku, Inter recorded a crucial 3-2 victory in Germany against the Bundesliga club.

Inter headed into the match knowing that they had to win if they wished to stand any chance of qualifying for the next round and having won, they stand a chance of making it into the knockout stage but in order to do this they must beat Shakhtar Donetsk and hope Real Madrid versus Borussia Monchengladbach does not end in a draw.

Gazzetta dello Sport have given Conte a rating of 7/10 and said: “Here it is, the win that keeps things open. In the hardest moment the team responds and for a manager, nothing matters more. There are mechanisms that still need to be perfected, but also a growing squad.”

Corriere dello Sport also gave the former Juventus and Italian national team boss the same rating and added: “It is a win achieved with heart and with the head, a great victory, with the hope that it will bring something concrete.”

Tuttosport gave Conte a rating of 7/10 as well: “The first half hour is Conte’s Inter and the team deserved more but then they suffered and clung on to Lukaku.”
