The most Inter match was in the offing and this time they emerged victorious to keep their Champions League dreams alive.

Inter started off brilliantly and Darmian scored his first goal for the club and Inter seemed in complete control of the game.

Then Borussia switched it on and Inter conceded with the last touch in the first half to go in 1-1. The second half looked cagey but then Lukaku decided enough was enough and smashed 2 goals within 9 minutes to put Inter in a comfortable 2 goal lead.

Any other club would have not had any issues but Inter conceded 2 goals only for the 83rd minute Plea strike to be cancelled by VAR.

Samir Handanovic – 6: Some good saves in the first half to keep Inter ahead under pressure, could not do much about both goals. Lucky that third goal was chalked off. VAR.

Milan Skriniar – 6: Good start to the game as Inter dominated. Once Borussia started to take control, he lost his way a bit but then decided to dominate. Topsy turvy.

Stefan De Vrij – 6.5: Slowly finding his way back to form. Looked composed and concentrated throughout the first half. The second half was decent all things considered.

Alessandro Bastoni – 6.5 : Poor ending to the first half. Struggled against the pace and lost his positioning a bit which cost Inter a half time lead. Played much better at the end.

Matteo Darmian – 7: Darmian was brought in with no fanfare at all and is now surely the first choice in that role. Very stable in defense and now a threat going forward.

Roberto Gagliardini – 6: Continued his good run of form. Last season’s 3-5-2 suits him well. Like everyone he struggled when Borussia pressed. Great tackle on the second goal.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6.5: Great to see Epic Brozo back from COVID-19. Played a few rusty passes at the start. The second goal came from his assist and then he never looked back.

Nicolo Barella – 6: Runs for 2 midfielders, was a bit in the wars in the first half. Did his all in attack and in defence as usual. Conte needs to give him some rest soon.

Ashley Young – 5: Ashley rarely ventured forward, and Borussia preferred to attack his flank. Did not look confident either in defense or in attack throughout the game.

Romelu Lukaku – 7.5: Very few number 9’s make that sort of impact in a game. Created lots of chances in the first half. Scored two very well taken goals to keep Inter alive.

Lautaro Martinez – 6: Missed a few guilt-edged chances tonight. Could have so easily had a brace by half time but all he got was a yellow card for an alleged dive. Unlucky.

Achraf Hakimi – 6: Came off the bench and immediately had an impact with an assist that would be a huge boost to his confidence. Inter must ensure he succeeds.

Alexis Sanchez – 5.5: Great impact off the bench as he often does. Tries to find Hakimi all the time and today that resulted in goals at both ends. Did not stop running at all.

Ivan Perisic – N/A: Time wasting sub to take Young off. Ashley did not look in it. Especially after the miss. Ivan made sure that his flank was well covered with Bastoni.

Antonio Conte – 5: The start was great and the old 3-5-2 worked perfectly. Then Borussia pressed and Inter did not have another plan. Poor use of substitutions.

Danny Makkelie – 5: Gave away yellow cards like candy on Halloween. Gave away many soft free kicks to both sides. Lost control of the game and VAR helped him out.

Inter – 6.5: This has been said again and again, it is impossible to take Pazza out of Inter. This club must take the most insane path of doing the easiest things.
