Claus Hansen, the former president of Christian Eriksen’s former club Middelfart Boldklub has shared his belief that a player with the Danish national team player’s qualities must play.

Eriksen joined Inter just under a year ago from Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur but he has struggled to live up to expectations during his time with the Nerazzurri club.

The former Ajax midfielder has struggled to cement a place in Inter manager Antonio Conte’s team and he has regularly made his feelings known about his lack of playing time when he is on national team duty.

“He was a very good boy with great determination. I don’t know Conte, much less so the reasons for his decisions. I’m just saying that someone like Christian has to play, we all know his qualities.” Hansen explained in an interview with Italian news outlet EuropaCalcio.it.

Asked about Eriksen possibly being sold by Inter in January, Hansen responded: “I don’t know. Christian wants to play for Inter, who are an excellent team, he likes the Nerazzurri environment.”

Eriksen, who is under contract with Inter until the end of the 2023/24 season, has drawn links to several clubs in recent weeks from Arsenal to Paris Saint-Germain among a whole host of other sides.
