Former Inter goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano has stated his belief that Inter cannot wait for Christian Eriksen to come good amid his ongoing struggles at the club.

Eriksen arrived at Inter in the most recent January transfer window from Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur but has failed to live up to expectations in his time with the club which has led to intense media speculation that he will leave the club as soon as the next January transfer window.

“Inter cannot wait for him, nor can the team revolve around him, given that the coach is not one who compromises,” he explained in an interview with Italian radio station TMW Radio yesterday afternoon.

Viviano then went on to discuss the differing tempo in England and Italy and made a suggestion that Eriksen could fare better if played in a different system to the one currently used at Inter.

“If he’s a mezzala, he needs extra intensity that he may not have. The tempo in the Premier and Italy are different. In England it is higher, but here in Italy there is a unique attention to tactics.

“Maybe Eriksen, in another system, would be more suitable.”

In conclusion Viviano, who has also played for the likes of Fiorentina, Sampdoria and SPAL, was asked about whether or not anyone other than Juventus can win the Serie A title this season.

“Yup. I see Inter a bit above the others. I wouldn’t underestimate Napoli either.”
