Inter are serious about wanting to sign Udinese midfielder Rodrigo de Paul according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.
Inter have courted the Argentine several times in the past and he is a serious candidate to be signed in the fast approaching January transfer window.
Everyone at the club is in agreement about the potential signing of the former Valencia player, which was not the case last January with Christian Eriksen who has flopped during his time with the club.
Inter appreciate de Paul’s versatility with him able to play as a 4, an 8 or even a 10 and started talks with his agent a few weeks ago via telephone although the report warns that it will be difficult to come to an agreement with Udinese.
Udinese had valued de Paul between €30-35 million but the COVID-19 pandemic has led to that evaluation being revised downward.
Inter have a desire to understand how a deal can be set-up with Udinese, who are aiming to avoid relegation, something that would be even harder to do without de Paul, which is why it will be hard to convince them. Despite this, Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio will still try.
