Inter central midfielder Roberto Gagliardini has sang the praises of his Inter teammates and admitted that being able to train with them allows him to be ready to face off against any opponent.

“There are many champions in the team, it would be an understatement to say which of them is the toughest one to face in training. Training with them allows you to be ready to face any opponent,” he explained in an interview with Inter’s official match day programme for this weekend’s Serie A match at home to Bologna.

The former Atalanta player was then asked about what he would have been had he not become a football player.

“I’ve never had a plan B. I’ve always dreamed of being a footballer, I was convinced about it and wanted to succeed. What if it really went wrong? Maybe I would have been a PE teacher.”

He then went on to speak about which of his teammates he is closest to.

“The teammate with whom I get along best with and with whom I spend more time even off the pitch with is Danilo D’Ambrosio. Our families are very close, we are friends.”

The Italian national team player then went on to speak about another sport that he enjoys away from football.

“In addition to football, I follow the NBA. I don’t have a favourite player, but I find the matches to be very spectacular and exciting. I am passionate about it.”

Next he went on to share what he believes are to two qualities that have helped him to achieve what he has in the football world.

“Humility and work culture are the qualities that I carry inside and that have helped me in my career. I think that sacrifices always pay off in the end.”

In conclusion, Gagliardini, who has been with Inter since January 2017, shared his five a side team made up of players from Inter’s history: “Zenga, Samuel, Facchetti, Recoba and Milito.”

Since joining Inter, the 26-year-old has made 113 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 13 goals and provided six assists for his teammates. This season Gagliardini has two goals and as many assists in nine appearances.
