In today’s print edition, Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport have emphasised the contributions of both Matteo Darmian and Roberto Gagliardini in Inter’s past two matches.
The right wing-back and central midfielder have not been celebrated as much as others in the team but have both made fundamental contributions in the past two matches which Inter won against Sassuolo and Borussia Monchengladbach.
Against Sassuolo, Darmian provided an assist and Gagliardini scored. Against Borussia Monchengladbach, Darmian opened the scoring and was assisted by Gagliardini.
Darmian has come in and given a balance to the team that was previously not there whilst Gagliardini has scored more goals than any other Inter midfielder since Antonio Conte took charge.
Gagliardini, who often finds himself being criticised, has scored six goals since the start of last season and in him, Conte has found a central midfielder that combines physicality and knows how to insert himself into how Conte wants to play.
